My Services

Articulation & Apraxia

I have worked with students of all ages who are struggling to articulate their sounds in words. Whether your child is struggling to produce those complex “r” or “th” sounds, has a lisp, or has trouble with a number of sounds, I use a systematic approach to reduce articulation/phonological issues. My treatment is based on a child's typical developmental needs for an organized approach to the remediation of pronunciation issues. If you are looking for a structured, positive, stress-free approach to helping your child, please contact me today.

Accent Reduction

Are you looking to reduce your accent while speaking Standard American English (SAE)? Perhaps you’re concerned that people don’t understand you enough at work or while attending interviews to get your dream job.

I have worked with natives from a variety of countries: India, Russia, France, Spain, Brazil, and other Spanish-speaking countries. All of my clients came to me hoping to sound more intelligible in speaking SAE while giving presentations, speaking over the phone, and even in interviews.  I love languages and have been able to help many people just like you. I would love to help you with improving your intelligibility.

Phonemic Awareness/Literacy Skills &

Reading Comprehension

Is your child falling behind in reading or having trouble starting to read basic words? This may be attributed to a condition called Dyslexia or a number of other potential learning disabilities.

While I treat the whole client (not just a diagnosis or disorder), I have worked with many school-aged children of all levels to help them start reading or become better at reading. I systematically assess the child’s strengths and areas of opportunities on all levels deemed necessary to become a fluent reader. Then, I develop a comprehensive treatment plan specific to each child’s learning needs.

Language, Cognition, & Social Skills

If you wish for your child to become a better communicator with you and their peers, we can work on developing vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, turn-taking skills, and comprehension of spoken language. Many children, particularly those diagnosed with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and ADD/ADHD have trouble communicating their needs, emotions, and participating in conversations. They often also have trouble understanding questions, interpreting figurative or abstract language, and decoding social cues.

During each assessment, I determine the child’s current language abilities and develop goals to introduce language concepts that are developmentally appropriate.

Stuttering/ Disfluencies

I have worked with both children and adults who exhibit stuttering or disfluent speech behaviors. Such behaviors can present themselves as blocks in speech, sound repetitions/prolongations, phrase repetitions, rapid speech rate, difficulties with moving through combinations of sounds in a word (coarticulation), and word enunciation. My treatment is aimed at each client’s most functional needs that will work within their home or school environment and social routines.

Traumatic Brain Injuries & Strokes (Aphasia)

Unfortunately, accidents happen that can affect our lives drastically. This could be a scary and frustrating time for you and your family as a result. If you have suffered a brain injury or a stroke that has impaired your ability to speak or process language, speech therapy is often imperative, especially in the early months of the incident.

I strive to bring compassion and understanding to all my clients during each session. I develop specific strategies that target the skills and areas of the brain that were affected by the injury while addressing all of your personal goals.

Degenerative Progressive Disorders

(Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and More)

That initial diagnosis that you or your loved one has a degenerative disorder can be quite traumatic and difficult to accept. The body and mind can start losing skills that used to be easy to perform, including speech and memory. Speech therapy, however, can help with slowing down the effects of the disorder and in discovering functional strategies to compensate for the loss of a specific skill. I develop treatment plans unique to each client based on their personal goals and needs.

Voice Disorders/Vocal Trauma

Are you a teacher or have a job that causes vocal strain and injury, such as vocal nodules or polyps?

In therapy, we will develop strategies that reduce the effects of the injury and prevent any future trauma. If you have a job that requires you to speak with high volume and causes great strain around your neck, throat, and shoulders, it is possible to learn how to use your voice and breathing techniques while adjusting your environment to reduce the strain.

Breathing Techniques for Voice, Increasing Focus, & Reducing Anxiety

I have become certified in Breathing Techniques and in teaching Yoga because I realize the necessity of the breath, not only for speaking, but also in our overall lives. I have often taught breathing strategies to children and adults to help reduce their stress levels, anxiety, and even brain fog.

These strategies are most helpful for working with clients diagnosed with Stuttering, Voice Disorders, Autism, ADHD, and a number of other disorders. There is no limit to how much breathing strategies can aid in our everyday lives and help with the troubles we all face.
